Our Roaster
Classic Coffee acquires its beans from a small, California-based Artisan roaster. Roasted to order every week, our roaster strives to be “a growing, customer-centric company, dedicated to quality, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility.” Not only did the quality of the coffee draw Classic Coffee to this roaster, but also their dedication to the environment and forming relationships with responsible coffee estates. Because environmental consciousness is central to the production of this roaster’s coffee, they use a Loring Smart Roaster, which reduces carbon emissions by 80 percent. They also use hybrid-powered vehicles and have instituted recycling and compost programs. Since 1995, our roaster has maintained a commitment to sustainability and as a result, over 50 percent of their coffees are certified Organic, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, or some combination of the three. They believe paying premiums ensures quality and that quality leads to sustainability. Plus, each type of certification is a testament to the improved conditions in which the coffee is produced. To do this, Classic Coffee’s roaster “has secured long-term, direct relationships with growers and when possible travels to the origin in order to strengthen these relationships.” Just like Classic Coffee, our roaster believes that customer service and quality never need to be sacrificed to do what is right. When quality and responsibility meet, they make a great cup of coffee. |
