Our Roaster

Classic Coffee acquires its beans from a small, California-based Artisan roaster. Roasted to order every week, our roaster strives to be “a growing, customer-centric company, dedicated to quality, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility.” Not only did the quality of the coffee draw Classic Coffee to this roaster, but also their dedication to the environment and forming relationships with responsible coffee estates. Because environmental consciousness is central to the production of this roaster’s coffee, they use a Loring Smart Roaster, which reduces carbon emissions by 80 percent. They also use hybrid-powered vehicles and have instituted recycling and compost programs. Since 1995, our roaster has maintained a commitment to sustainability and as a result, over 50 percent of their coffees are certified Organic, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, or some combination of the three. They believe paying premiums ensures quality and that quality leads to sustainability. Plus, each type of certification is a testament to the improved conditions in which the coffee is produced. To do this, Classic Coffee’s roaster “has secured long-term, direct relationships with growers and when possible travels to the origin in order to strengthen these relationships.” Just like Classic Coffee, our roaster believes that customer service and quality never need to be sacrificed to do what is right. When quality and responsibility meet, they make a great cup of coffee.

Our Story:

Set in the base of the Glendora Foothills, Classic Coffee has been serving premium quality drinks since 2004. Classic Coffee began with a vision to provide a gathering place for people in the community who shared a love for classic cars and good coffee. With a year’s worth of research, what started as an espresso machine in the corner of the Classic Auto Gallery, the owners’ original business, evolved into the quaint, community-focused coffee shop that Classic Coffee is today.

“We visited different coffee bars and tradeshows, trying to figure out what worked in the coffee business,” notes owner, Lois Sparling. At one of the tradeshows, Lois and Fred Sparling happened upon a small gourmet roaster with which they envisioned a long-term business relationship. Not only did this roaster provide excellent coffees, but it was also a company which promoted eco as well as social responsibility.
While the Classic Auto Gallery is no longer in business, the vision of creating a gathering place for the community of downtown Glendora has not changed. “Forming relationships with our customers has always been a main focus for Classic Coffee. It’s just one of the ways we want to serve our community,” notes Lois. Not only is outstanding customer service a priority, Classic Coffee also strives to give back. Through donations to schools and nonprofit organizations, as well as participation in community events, Classic Coffee is involved in the community that supports it.

As Classic Coffee continues to grow and change, the focus of this independent coffee shop will remain the same: quality products, exceptional customer service, and community.
